Players can now enjoy Demon’s Souls Remake on PS5 with Sony’s new energy-saving feature, part of its eco-focused “Road to Zero” initiative. Here’s how to enable it, what it changes, and how the game performs under this new mode.
A Greener Way to Play Demons Souls on PS5
Sony has introduced a new way to play that aligns with its environmental goals. With the “Road to Zero” plan in motion, the company aims to reduce carbon emissions across its hardware lineup and that includes its games.
At the moment, only three titles are compatible with the new Power Saving Mode for Games: Demon’s Souls Remake, Ghost of Yōtei, and Death Stranding 2. The latter two launched earlier this year in 2025.
Originally released in beta back in July, this feature became available to all PS5 users starting September 16, adding a layer of eco-efficiency without sacrificing the PlayStation experience.
Essentially, Power Saving Mode is a system-level setting that significantly reduces the console’s electricity use and therefore its environmental footprint during gameplay.
While not all games support it yet, Demon’s Souls Remake from Bluepoint Games handles the mode quite well. It’s not as visually stunning as when running in Quality Mode, but it still maintains an impressive look.
How to Enable Power Saving Mode in Demons Souls
If you own Demon’s Souls Remake (or one of the other two compatible games), a small update will automatically enable the feature.
Once installed, launch the game and you’ll see a new message on the main menu confirming support for Power Saving Mode. You can enable it right there by selecting Settings.
After activation, restart the game to apply the change. The title will now run in a third visual preset, separate from the usual Performance or Quality modes, this one prioritizes lower energy consumption.
You’ll notice a small drop in resolution and a cap at 30 FPS, but the game still looks excellent and performs smoothly considering the energy savings.
System Settings Method
Alternatively, you can activate this feature directly from the PS5 system settings.
Go to Settings → System → Power Saving, then select Game Power Saving.
This menu shows all compatible titles and allows you to toggle the feature on or off for each individually.
It’s also where you can disable Power Saving Mode for specific games if you prefer maximum performance.
Why It Matters
Some players believe this feature hints at future hardware plans, possibly tied to the upcoming PS6 or Sony’s next portable console, both expected to focus on energy efficiency.
It would make sense, similar to how Steam Deck or ROG Ally let players extend battery life by adjusting brightness, watt limits, or frame rates.
For now, PS5 owners can already try this feature with Demon’s Souls Remake, Ghost of Yōtei, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. More titles are expected to join the list soon, making PlayStation gaming not just powerful, but also sustainable.
